Shaped Silicone Strips
What are these pieces?
Embrace, protect or seal
In engineering, a profile is any piece of extruded silicone that does not have a simple circular shape. While cords and tubes are geometrically basic, profiles are designed with specific geometries to fit into grooves, frames or complex mechanisms.
They can be manufactured in any shape, upon request. Although we have references, as can be seen in the photos, you can send us an image by email so that we can accurately assess your quote.
Pueden fabricarse con cualquier forma, bajo pedido. Si bien disponemos de referencias, como puede apreciarse en las fotos, Ud. puede enviarnos una imagen por email para valorar correctamente su presupuesto.
Hardness
The Shore A hardness standard is 65 +-3.
Lenght
Pieces from 1 cm to 100-metre rolls.
-> Minimum order: 25 metres.
Colour
The applicable colours are any from the ‘RAL’ scale.
Maclysa uses top-quality VIRGIN silicone to manufacture its profiles, following a standardised manufacturing process under strict cleanliness and dryness standards to ensure the purity of the final product and comply with our quality certification regulations.
Typical applications in the healthcare sector
Sealing gaskets
They are usually D- or P-shaped so that when the steriliser door is closed, air is trapped inside, ensuring an airtight seal under pressure.
Edge protectors
U-shaped profiles that are placed on the edges of surgical tables or treatment trolleys to prevent knocks and facilitate disinfection.
Panel insulation
In clean rooms, profiles are used to seal the joints between wall and ceiling panels, preventing the accumulation of bacteria.
Uses in different industries
Railway and Naval
Depending on their thickness, large profiles are used for sealing infrastructure: Doors and windows and damping
Renewable Energy (Solar and Wind)
Virgin silicone profiles are one of the few materials that can withstand 25 years of exposure to the sun without cracking.
Cold and Heat
Profiles that withstand high temperatures and maintain their elasticity at low temperatures.
Industrial ovens, bakeries, and cold rooms.
